Congolese singer given main performance at the AFCON opening ceremony. (HOW RIGHT OR WRONG IS THIS)

Firstly, TCHATOU KOMBO FALLY popularly known by his stage name FALLY IPUPA is a Congolese by birth. Born on the 14th of December 1977, fally grew up with his Congolese parents.
A lot has been attributed around fally’s performance at the opening of the AFCON. One of those is the fact that many claim fally has a Cameroonian identity.
This news has been circulating in Cameroon for quite some time & hasn’t gotten clarification. FALLY IPUPA IS NOT A CAMEROONIAN neither did he obtain Cameroonian nationality.
It might just be due the love he has for his fans in Cameroon & the frequent shows he organizes here that many think he has obtained Cameroonian nationality.
Also, fally has repeatedly said it in interviews that Cameroon is his second home after the DRC this could be another reason many think he obtained cameroonian nationality.

Going back to his performance at the opening of the AFCON. Firstly, it’s a platform for all African countries to showcase & fally is an African. Many Cameroonians saw as an obligation that only a Cameroonian artist was supposed to perform (VERY WRONG). The organizing committee has the right to pick an artist from any part of Africa to perform & fally could have just been the lucky one.
Cameroonian artists have also been given the same platform to perform, hosted by other African countries. For example, Cameroonian artist
In spite all these, there we’re some loop holes that were clearly identified from fally’s performance.
– His dressing. Many critized FALLY IPUPA’s dressing as he wore a pair of trousers and a jacket with an open chest. Cameroonian rapper MAHLOX LE VIBER frowns at the fact that fally dressed really poorly and was performing in front of the Cameroonian president H.E Paul Biya. A really wrong move by the artist in MAHLOX’s voice

His song choice; FALLY IPUPA released one of his biggest hit songs in 2017 ELOKO. A traditional sensational vibe with a touch of afropop. The track off his TOKOOS ALBUM was highly welcomed nationally, internationally & globally.
Many expected fally to perform this particular track, but he didn’t. Fally performed his UN COUP track which happens to be a love song & wasn’t suitable for the event.
Above all, it wasn’t obligatory for a cameroonian artist to perform at the AFCON OPENING CEREMONY.

The Congolese singer on his part, gave an excellent performance.
