The BOD members of the Cameroon Film Industry (CFI) had an extended Board Meeting yesterday 24th September 2022 in Limbe. The newly elected BOD has had their first Board meeting via Zoom. The meeting after the installation of the new BOD members was convened to tackle pertinent issues the CFI is currently facing. The extended meeting of yesterday was the second since they were installed into office. The meeting was made up of the CFI BOD and the various Guild Presidents.
During their first meeting, the BOD drafted a full list of needs for the Industry, as well as actions to be taken to move the industry forward.
This extended BOD meeting was set to come up with a 3 year plan of action, a working Budget, a set of stable and effective rules to guide the members of the Cameroon Film Industry, establishing a Memorandum of Understanding.
As far as the budget is concerned, by the close of the meeting the BOD was 80% sure of what they had drawn up, how and where they could get funds from, and in a month’ s time they would conclude on the full budget needed to set their ball rolling.
Another point of interest was the issue of discipline within the Industry. The board chair lady made it clear that this new government was here to make the CFI greater via discipline. To achieve this greatness she said the industry must become more disciplined; each and every member is required to be disciplined, have respect for hierarchy, and the flow of mutual respect as well as being more collaborative would help the Industry attain their desired objectives. A set of rules will be instated within the Industry, one which will affect anyone and everyone who defaults. Sanctions will be given to rule breakers and such incidents will be made public to serve as a point of reference for those who planned on following the defaulters footsteps, as well as an of eye opener to the public. The various rules will be put out to the public once they are finalized. As members of the CFI, no one is above to law as such when the rules are set everyone will be answerable to them.
The meeting ended on a high note with hopes of meeting again in a month’s time to put a push to all actions decided upon, to get them working and get the CFI to where they envision. Major decisions taken at the meeting will be known to the general public.
On a lower note the BOD chair made it known that anyone aspiring to be a part of the CFI should be a registered member of a Guild. If you are interested in acting be a member of the Actors Guild, or if your interest is Script Writing be a member of the Scriptwriters Guild, and it applies to all the other Guilds. It is worth noting that one could be a member in more than one Guild.
The above information was gotten by the Crystal Beauty Show through an exclusive interview with the BOD chair, Madam Elung Brenda.
