TIKO’S GOT TALENT

The fourth edition of the Tiko’s Got Talent and Miss/Mister Tiko Pageantry is currently ongoing. A myriad of talents are exposed to the general public and potential talent developers every year via the Tiko Got Talent. A platform which encourages youths most especially, to expose their talents and have them seen, appreciated, and why not make them income generating.

This vision was first materialized in 2019, with the vision bearer being Mr. Mukoko John Tanga aka the Lion of Tiko of Mukoko’s Hope Foundation. With his ensemble, the premier edition of the Tiko’s Got Talent and Beauty Pageant was a success. The town had never once experienced such an event but thanks to the visionaries, Tiko’s name has been put on a higher ramp as they made physical proof of “big dreams start small and get bigger and better when accompanied with hard work”.

The Tiko’s Got Talent hosts many Categories including Singing, Dancing, Comic display, Fine art, Make-up artistry, Fashion design, Magic, Cake decorating just to name a few. So long as it’s a talent, it’s welcomed.

Through the past three editions (2019, 2020, and 2021) the Lord Mayor of Tiko His Royal Highness Mossoso Peter has been in great support of the spectacle and his undying support is still seen with this year’s edition. This edition brought the TGT to a brighter light as the Source du Pays American Cola is the official sponsor. They saw fit the vision and raised its ranks higher. Their physical support is visible as they gave branded T-shirts, Face caps, wrists bands, bottled water and fizzy drinks both their products to accompany the competitions from start to finish.

Aside from propagating Talents, the TGT is also promoting Nation Building, Youth Empowerment, Social networking and instilling a sense of camaraderie.

5th November 2022 was the day the ball was set rolling for the fourth edition of the Tiko’s Got Talent and Miss/Mister Tiko Pageantry. Contestants and the organizers met face to face for the first time in a seminar organized by the assiduous team. The seminar was meant to educate the participants on the rundown of the race they were to commence on the 12th of November 2022. This day marked another glorious victory for the visionaries as once more they were getting penned in Tiko’s, the Southwest Region’s and to a greater scale Cameroon’s history books. The rules of the competitions were discussed, the myths debunked and the contestants mindsets prepared for what was coming.

A beautiful scene is what the Audition Phase of the Tiko’s Got Talent/Miss Tiko Pageantry can be described as. Future stars in the various artistic domains converged to wow the audience with their talents. There was a nostalgic air as it felt like a season of the popular America’s Got Talent was playing right before the audience’s eyes, the better difference was the feeling of full presence and physicality.

From Acrobatics to Rap, you name it, the contestants came ready to put themselves out there. The crowd went wild over a gazillion times, and the judges made some standing ovations for outstanding performances. There was rib cracking laughter as Comedians went about their antics on stage. A young man thrilled everyone present with his contorsionniste act. There were some tears and screams sounding loud at the bellow of angelic voices who came in for the Singing category. Dance performances left the audience feeling the beat and dancing in their seats. Stunning and brilliant models who came to contest for the Crown and the duties of Miss Tiko, cat-walked their way into the audience’s hearts.

The Audition Phase was the beginning of the official race to the finish for all contestants as shortly after it, the voting portals were opened for fans to vote for their favorite contestants. The criteria for moving forward to the semi-finals in either of the competitions (the Talent section and the Beauty Pageant) was getting selected at the end of the Auditions. After that selection done by the judges, the votes turned in for each contestant would be their ticket to the Finals. The voting phase is presently on going online on the official website for the Tiko’s Got Talent, to cast a vote costs one hundred francs, and one can vote multiple times. (Link below)

The Pageantry contestants who made it to the semi finals are being treated to a boot camp which will give them time to make connections with their fellow contestants as well as learning a thing or two from the organizers. Miss Ngankam Elsie, (Miss Tiko 2020, Second Runner-up Miss South West, and Finalist at the Miss Cameroon 2022, amongst other titles) is at helm of affairs for the Miss/Mister Tiko Pageantry. The boot camp began on the 24th of November to come to a close on the 26th of November. This boot camp also ensures the spirit of healthy competition between the contestants as mini contests will be put up during its duration.

The Finals of the Tiko’s Got Talent and Miss/Mister Tiko Beauty Pageant holds on the 27th of this month at the Tiko Council Auditorium. The judges for this edition include a musician Ben Ihims, ‘A’ list actress Onyama Laura and Entertainer/Entrepreneur Kwoh Elonge aka Aunty Felicia.
